Since 1983 student assistant at the State Monuments Office of Baden-Württemberg, 1988 - 2012 employee of the Archaeological Service of the Canton of Bern, underwater and wetland archaeology, management of archaeological projects in lakes, bogs and high alpine ice sites, mainly Neolithic and Bronze Age. Since 2004 participation in the UNESCO World Heritage candidature ‘Prehistoric Pile Dwellings around the Alps’, successfully completed in 2011. Since August 2012 Full Professor of Prehistoric Archaeology and Co-Director of the Institute of Archaeological Sciences.
